EDINA, Minn. (October 7, 2013) – Lund Food Holdings, Inc., parent company of Lunds & Byerlys, announced its purchase of Village Market, a 35,000‐square‐foot grocery store located at 16731 Highway 13 in Prior Lake.
“This is a great opportunity for us to grow our family of employees and extend our brand into an area of the Twin Cities where we previously lacked a presence,” said Tres Lund, president and CEO of Lund Food Holdings, Inc. “We look forward to providing Village Market customers with our brand of quality, service and expertise.”
The store is currently being reset with Lunds’ product selection and rebranded as Prior Lake. It will remain open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week throughout the initial transition. Beginning October 24, store hours will be extended to 6 a.m. to midnight seven days a week.
Additional features at this location include floral offerings from Bachman’s and a coffee bar, which will soon become a Caribou Coffee.
Village Market employed 60 people, and all of them were immediately offered a position at Lund Food Holdings following the completed purchase.
“Based on my experiences with Lunds and visiting their stores to see their product selection and overall commitment to providing a sensational shopping experience, I am absolutely confident this was the right decision to ensure the best long‐term benefit for our employees, customers and the community,” said Dave Chromy, a former co‐owner of Village Market, who is now the store’s general manager.
